Snowden's Tournament Journal: Eagle
Mountain
Event: BassMaster Memorial
When: May 15-21, 2006
Where: Eagle Mountain, TX
Finish: 33rd
Winnings: $0.00
Practice started out with sunny skies and strong winds in the 15-20 mph out
of the north to northeast. I began my practice concentrating on shallow boat
docks and rocky points. I caught a few small keepers working a ½ oz., white,
BOOYAH Blade around the poles of the shallow boat docks. As the day
progressed I moved to some deeper docks and caught a few nice keepers
suspended around the dock foam in 2-5 feet of water on a 7 ½ inch, plum, YUM
Ribbontail Worm. The following day during practice I started out fishing
some deeper marina docks with the spinnerbait. This produced several small
fish, as well as a few keepers. I then decided to try some main lake points
and drops with a Carolina rig and a 5/16 oz., BOOYAH Boo Bug Jig in pb&j
with a green pumpkin, 2.5 inch, YUM Craw Papi. This produced better keepers,
but I didn’t receive as many bites.
The first day of the tournament I concentrated on the marina docks and
caught one keeper on a spinnerbait and a three pound fish on a Texas rigged,
plum worm. The second day of the tournament I caught two nice keepers on the
jig and three more keepers working the plum worm along the bottom around
shallow boat docks. I finished the day with a nine pound limit and missed
the cut by just over a pound.
