Product Review:
Daimon Lures Destiny Jig
Description: Daimon Lures' Destiny jigs come in various sizes, with the
1/8 and 1/4 ounce versions being tested. These jigs are hand poured and
tied, and sport a round head, plastic trailer, the usual weedguard, and
optional rattles.
Review: Destiny jigs work well in most
conditions, but they really shine in clear water.
"They performed well," according to Reed
Montgomery, Alabama guide and tournament fisherman. "I fished one spot in a
bass tournament, with other rattling jigs and tube baits. Then I decided to
rework the area, even after no bites on the first pass, I knew there were
fish there. I used your watermelon and pumpkinseed jigs and got three bites,
missed one fish, caught one 2 pounder and another 3 pounder, that placed me
in the money on Logan Martin Lake Alabama."
My experience with the lures have been the same.
These finesse jigs work especially well when swum over vegetation and near
other cover. Light line and clear water are perfect for these jigs,
especially in the fall.
Swimming a Destiny jig over vegetation produced the most amount of fish, as
well as the largest. As far as color is concerned, watermelon seed and
pumpkinseed gave the best rate of return.
Montgomery: "In clear water your (Destiny) jigs
without rattles are much better for skittish fish, including that smaller
profile and subtle, twin tail plastic trailer!
Keep up the good work on some very fish-catching lures!"
Indeed. I never fish clear water anymore without these little lures
handy.

The Breakdown:
Bass caught: many bass were caught in clear water over
vegetation. Being finesse jigs, they did not perform well in murky
water, which is to be expected. These lures really shine in tough conditions
and clear water, and can turn a tough day into a good one.
Innovation:
hand-poured and hand-tied performance is what you get at a moderate price
from Daimon lures with their Destiny jigs.
Strength: after catching many bass, these jigs are in as good
a shape as ever except for the head paint. After a day of fishing around
rocks, much of it had chipped off. Therefore, a score of 4.0 was determined.
(Note - April 30, 2005: Bryon Simmons of Daimon Lures: "We have refined
and improved our curing process for the paint, so that the chipping is all
but eliminated now.")
Overall: go get some Destiny jigs if you fish clear water!
They are a must for all clear water fishermen.
