Bass Man Documentary
Description: Bass Man is a documentary by Flathead Films which gives viewers an
inside look into the lives of professional bass anglers Rick Clunn, Takahiro
Omori, and Jay Yelas. It covers their tournament performances, their
religious beliefs, and their lives in general.
Review: Bass Man is definitely an
interesting documentary for those who are deeply involved with bass
tournament fishing. It has plenty of subtle advice and tips for those who
wish to fish higher-level events, but if you aren't already interested in
the pros and tournaments, you might be bored by the end of this film.
One aspect that Bass Man spends a
surprisingly long time describing is the spiritual aspect of each pro. It
goes into detail on both Rick Clunn and Jay Yelas' religious beliefs, and
also shows how Takahiro Omori is drawn to both sides. Overall, the emphasis
on the spiritual was the most unexpected element of this documentary.
Everything from tournament weigh-ins to
spiritual beliefs to sponsorships to Classic weigh-ins is covered in Bass
Man, and gives the viewer a much truer sense of what life as a pro is
really all about. Bass Man gets props for being very realistic,
keeping the characters true to form, and for innovation.
