Neverwinter Lures Wood Jig
Description: NeverWinter Lures' Wood Jigs come in two sizes - 3/8
oz. and 1/2 oz, and a large range of skirt colors. The jigs come equipped
with Mustad Ultra Point hooks and two steel ball rattles. The Wood Jig is
designed with a wider head than usual, to prevent hangups.
Review: Starting out with NeverWinter's
jigs, it was decided to throw them in tournaments from the very beginning.
The first attempt logged several keeper bass, good enough for sixth place in
a difficult event on Lake Lewisville, Texas. Since that time, these jigs
have not disappointed in production of fish or quality of build. We caught
numbers of fish as well as decently-sized bass on these jigs during a
testing period of several months.
Swimming NeverWinter's jigs worked well, but they really shine
in pitching/flipping applications and when fished slowly across the bottom.
Surprisingly enough, we scored the most fish around docks and marinas with
these lures. The amount of bass caught crawling these jigs around visible
cover exceeded bass caught while pitching and flipping by a noticeable
amount.
We had a slight amount of paint chip off the head of these jigs after
repeated use around rocks, but this is to be expected. The hooks are sturdy,
and the construction is solid.
A good thing about NeverWinter's jigs? One color
in particular. Black/blue/purple outscored other colors by immense margins,
and put themselves on top of the scoreboard. Black/chartreuse did well as
did brown/orange.

The Breakdown:
Bass caught: Over one hundred bass over a testing period of several months.
Largest bass was about 4.5 pounds, caught near a dock while crawling the
lure.
Innovation: Custom construction equals
innovation, and we were very pleased with the color selection as well.
Strength: Strong. They won't break. Enough said.
Overall: This is a good jig to check out if
you're looking for something new. NeverWinter has done a great job on their
product.
