Product Review: Lake
Fork Tackle ZigZag
Description: This is a new weightless bait. The ZigZag is about six inches
long with rings around it. The lure is slightly larger at the head then most
of the same type and tapers off at the tail.
Review: The rings on this lure hold bubbles as the bait
sinks, and it can be fished wacky style, Texas rigged weightless, or with a
small weight. This is also a great Carolina rig bait. Due to the rings,
this bait is very flexible, and this allows it to bend easily when you fish
it wacky style, or when you fish it quickly like a Zara Spook over the
grass. This is a year round bait. However, spring and early summer is a
great time to use it. This bait falls about a little less than a foot per second. When you fish it weightless, pull or jerk your line and let it sink slowly
then watch your line for a tick or for it to just swim off. Let the fish
have the bait and wait just a few seconds before setting the hook. The ZigZag will work best when fished on a medium heavy six foot six rod and a size
four or five hook. The watermelon or watermelon red is the best color.
The bait comes in many colors from Lake Fork Tackle.

The Breakdown
This bait worked well over grass and lasted for several fish. Use
of a smaller eye hook will help the bait last longer. The head of the
bait stood up well but you need to use smaller eye hooks to keep from
tearing it up. The rings make the lure different from other slick sided
baits of the same style. Keep one tied on when you miss a fish on a
top water or buzzbait. Throw this bait back to the spot and let it sink.
You can find this product from Lake Fork Tackle and most of
your local tackle stores.
